Role Overview

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving new business growth across Ireland by identifying, developing, and securing new customer opportunities for MMT's automation solutions.

This role is focused on generating new revenue through proactive prospecting, networking, relationship building, and market development. The successful candidate will work closely with technical and engineering teams to understand customer challenges and develop tailored automation solutions.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, commercially driven, and enjoys building relationships from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the medical device, pharmaceutical, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
• Develop and execute territory and account acquisition plans to achieve growth targets.
• Build relationships with prospective customers, key decision-makers, and industry stakeholders.
• Generate qualified sales opportunities through networking, referrals, market research, and outbound prospecting activities.
• Conduct customer meetings and site visits to identify automation opportunities and understand customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Program Technical Directors and engineering teams to develop solutions and proposals.
• Prepare and deliver presentations, quotations, and commercial proposals.
• Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through contract award.
• Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecasting process within CRM systems.
• Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies.
• Represent MMT at industry events, exhibitions, conferences, and networking activities.

Key Requirements

• 7+ years' experience in business development, technical sales, or commercial roles.
• Proven track record of generating new business and achieving sales targets.
• Experience within automation, manufacturing, engineering services, industrial equipment, medical devices, or related sectors.
• Strong prospecting and relationship-building capabilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to understand technical solutions and communicate customer value propositions.
• Self-motivated and results-oriented with a strong commercial mindset.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
