Full job description

Our Company

MISO develops technology that elevates human lives in the commercial kitchen.

We’re engineering production-ready robotic systems that tightly integrate perception, real-time decision making, and electromechanical controls to automate the most dangerous, least desirable tasks in food preparation. That means building software that understands the physical world as it actually behaves, and hardware that can execute precisely in the face of chaos. Success is measured in uptime, throughput, and trust from our customers, not demos.

Our flagship platform, Flippy, is already operating in high-volume restaurant kitchens across seven states. Zippy, our Kitchen Intelligence software centralizes all operational data in our broader ecosystem, expanding the role of AI enabled autonomy in real-world operations. Backed by industry leaders, including Ecolab (NYSE: ECL), Miso combines the stability of a proven commercial product with the technical depth and ambition of a company passionately innovating to solve foundational problems in robotics and restaurant operations.

If you’re excited by hard constraints, real customers, and the challenge of making software and machines perform reliably where failure isn’t an option, you’ll find meaningful problems to work on here.

The Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Robotics Build Technician for a full-time contract position as we build robotic systems for customer delivery. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems and components that are integral to our robotics platforms. While this position is initially a contract role, there is potential for it to transition into a full-time, permanent role based on project needs and performance. The expected duration of the role is 2-3 months with the possibility to extend.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general and detailed assembly of mechanical parts and mechanisms for robotic kitchen systems.
  • Assist in the build of products, including reading technical drawings, and ensuring alignment and fastener selection.
  • Chase threads with a tap and perform necessary modifications or rework on existing hardware.
  • Install and integrate mechanical systems with electronic controls and sensors.
  • Maintain an organized workspace and shop area, ensuring a safe and clean work environment.
  • Conduct functional tests to ensure proper assembly and operation of mechanical systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical assembly issues and collaborate with engineering/manufacturing teams to resolve them.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on prototypes and production systems.
  • Follow work instructions within a manufacturing execution system (MES) and write non-conformance (NC) descriptions when unable to proceed per instructions.
  • Read electrical schematics to assist with cabinet and harness wiring.
  • Verify work performed conforms to manufacturing standards and quality control procedures which include: dimensional measurements, torque verifications, voltage measurements, continuity checks, and traceability standards.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings for assembly and fabrication.
  • Strong knowledge of general shop practices, including fastening with digital/analog torque wrenches, riveting, thread locker applications, and fastener identification.
  • Experience using general hand and power tools to aid in assembly and modification as needed.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical integration.
  • High School diploma or Trade School graduate required; AA degree desirable.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to commute daily to and work at our Pasadena, CA location.

Desired Multipliers

  • Experience in food service equipment or automated systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation protocols and control systems.
  • Food Handling Certifications

Compensation

$25-$30/hr. Full Time hours with possibility of overtime

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base salary range for candidates residing in the Los Angeles Metro area and excludes additional earnings such as bonus and benefits. If your salary requirements fall outside of the range, we still encourage you to apply.

At Miso Robotics, we are committed to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace where every team member is valued and respected. We believe that diversity in our team drives innovation and creativity, which is why we strive to create a welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status.
