About Mighty Minds and Muscles

Mighty Minds and Muscles (MMM) is a pediatric multidisciplinary therapy and learning center in Tribeca, Manhattan, serving children from infancy through adolescence since 2011. Our team of occupational therapists, educators, and collaborative therapy partners for speech therapy and physical therapy. We deliver services in our outpatient clinic, in schools across lower Manhattan, Brooklyn and Jersey City, and in community and home settings.

Our clinical model is grounded in sensory integration theory, neurodevelopmental principles, and a bottom-up approach to child development. We are an approved NYC DOE Related Services agency and serve a diverse caseload including private pay, Impartial Hearing Order (IHO), SEIT, SETSS, and school-contracted cases. We are a small, mission-driven practice with a strong reputation among lower Manhattan families, pediatricians, and private schools — and we are growing.

Role Overview

The Clinical Director is the senior clinical leader of Mighty Minds and Muscles, responsible for the quality, consistency, and development of all occupational therapy services and collaborative leaders for speech and PT. This role carries both direct clinical responsibilities and leadership duties: you will carry a caseload, supervise and mentor OT staff, lead clinical programming, and serve as the primary clinical partner to the Owner/Founder and Operations Manager.

This is the right role for a highly skilled, experienced pediatric OT who is ready to step into a leadership position without leaving clinical work behind — someone who is as energized by building systems and mentoring emerging clinicians as they are by treating children.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Quality

  • Oversee the quality and consistency of all OT services delivered by the practice
  • Conduct regular case reviews with OT staff; provide clinical consultation on complex cases
  • Review and co-sign evaluation reports as appropriate; ensure documentation meets clinical and regulatory standards
  • Establish and maintain evidence-based clinical protocols and treatment frameworks across the team
  • Lead the implementation and refinement of MMM's neurodevelopmental, sensory integration-informed clinical model, including thorough evaluations (using our newly developed ai-supported evaluation process).
Supervision & Staff Development

  • Provide clinical supervision to OT and academic support providers, supervisees and early-career therapists
  • Conduct or co-lead clinical onboarding for new hires
  • Lead bi-weekly or monthly clinical team meetings and case consultation sessions
  • Identify professional development needs; recommend and coordinate CEU opportunities for the OT team
Direct Clinical Service (50-65% of hours)

  • Carry an active pediatric OT caseload across outpatient, school-based, and/or community settings
  • Conduct and complete comprehensive OT evaluations — preschool, school-age, and specialized (sensory, motor, infant/toddler)
  • Participate in and help grow the collaborative OT/PT/Speech evaluation program
  • Provide infant/toddler developmental assessment and treatment as caseload and expertise support
Program Development

  • Consult on curriculum design and clinical framework development for the Toddler Preschool Alternative Program (launching soon)
  • Provide supportive role in further development of and formal implementation of the Collaborative Multidisciplinary Evaluation package (OT + PT + SLP) including pricing, report format, and referral workflow
  • Contribute to clinical content for educational social media and family resources
  • Advise the Owner on clinical hiring needs, service line expansion, and clinical best practices
Operational Collaboration

  • Partner with the Clinical Programs Coordinator on scheduling, productivity expectations, and documentation compliance
  • Participate in school partner meetings where clinical expertise is needed
  • Advise on EHR/documentation system configuration as it relates to clinical workflow

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current NYS OTR/L licensure in good standing (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
  • NBCOT certification (OTR)
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in pediatric occupational therapy
  • Demonstrated expertise in sensory integration and neurodevelopmental treatment approaches
  • Experience conducting comprehensive pediatric OT evaluations (preschool and school-age)
  • Prior experience providing clinical supervision or mentorship to OT staff or students

Preferred Qualifications

  • SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests) certification or SICT (Ayres Sensory Integration® Certification) in progress or completed
  • Experience working in NYC DOE-funded environments (Related Services, SEIT, IHO cases)
  • Familiarity with NYC DOE billing systems and IEP documentation
  • Experience with infant/toddler developmental assessment and intervention
  • Background in MNRI (Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration), DIR/Floortime, or other integrative modalities
  • Prior experience leading a clinical team or serving in a senior/lead therapist capacity
  • Doctoral degree (OTD) or advanced post-professional training in sensory integration

Compensation & Benefits (W-2 Full-Time)

  • Salary: $90,000–$110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and caseload
  • Health insurance contribution
  • Paid Time Off
  • CEU/professional development stipend
  • Support for SIPT, MNRI or advanced certification completion (where applicable)
  • NBCOT and NYS/NJ licensure renewal support

Compensation (1099 Contract) - Considered to start!

  • Clinical treatment rate: $80–$120/hour (based on experience and case type)
  • Clinical/admin leadership rate: $50–$60/hour (for supervision, case review, program development, team meetings, and non-billable leadership time)
  • Sample blended effective rate for a 65/35 clinical-to-admin split at full hours: approximately $80–$100/hour all-in
  • 1099 candidates are responsible for self-employment taxes; no benefits provided
Future potential for equity ownership or profit sharing for the right candidate. Step into an already established agency with solid contracts and clients in place. Develop future growth model and passive income for yourself and others.
