Requires basic math and communication skills along with the ability to read and follow technical procedures. Candidates will undergo on-the-job training under an experienced operator until certification is achieved.

Description

Basic Function:

Responsible for proper and safe production of SO2 cores using patterns and procedures to perform the required tasks. Coremakers have to do a lot of twisting, using mallets, picking things up, and pushing. Coremakers will utilize work instructions, follow procedures to install chills, locators, vents, risers, pack with sand, season and turn out product. Coremakers shall ensure all procedures are being followed and signed, also that area is clean and free of obstructions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.
  2. Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
  3. Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship.
  4. Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process.
  5. Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information.
  6. Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards & utilizing procedures available.
  7. Make sure all equipment and tools are maintained and ready for use; responsible for documenting necessary repairs with immediate management.
  8. Demonstration of workmanship, quality, efficiency by using two core boxes in rotation at your workstation. 
  9. Ensure everything is done and ready to comply with daily schedule; Maintain proper inventory of all items; notify supervision of material needs.
  10. Retrieve, inspect, clean and properly put away all patterns & boxes used during a job.
  11. Understand and be able to assemble materials such as chills, locators, etc. Understand types of sand, chemicals, binders, proper storage.
  12. Demonstrate safe operation of hoists and carts used in coremaking processes.
  13. Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Skills:

Basic math skills, ability to read and understand all procedures required to perform assigned tasks, communication skills.

Education/Training/Experience:

On-the-job training while working under an experienced operator until position certification is achieved.
