The E&I Engineer is responsible for providing services for internal and external customer needs. Develop and execute site preventative maintenance activities. The position will also support capital construction and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the managing of the technical documentation of the facility including the transfer of all project and design documentation and drawings from engineering/construction companies.
  • Serve as project manager and/or design engineer on capital projects. Responsibilities include cost estimating, equipment selection and specification (electrical, instrumentation, and industrial control systems), contract bidding, field oversight, start-up, and commissioning.
  • Provide engineering support at various aspects of servicing, repair and maintenance of the facility including its comprehensive Distributed Control System.
  • Make recommendations for future expansion projects with reference to adequacy, operability, safety, maintainability, etc.
  • Review and recommend modifications and changes in the facility’s equipment and/or procedures and coordinate the process of change. Participate in “Root Cause Analysis Studies” and/or “HAZOP Studies” where appropriate.
  • Assist in the development of Quality Programs, the Risk Management Program, and the Process Safety Management Program.
  • Represent the terminal with outside agencies and customers as needed.
  • Wear appropriate PPE for required task, and safely perform job duties
  • Coordinates with the Facility Directors.
  • Perform these functions and responsibilities not only at Geismar, but other IMTT locations as needed.
  • Drive a company vehicle.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Instrument Engineering
  • Several years’ experience in Chemical or Petro-Chemical industry maintenance or design.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.
  • Professional Engineering License for the state of Louisiana.
  • Programming experience in DCS (Foxboro I/A), PLC, and HMI.

Skills and Abilities

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
  • Must be a team player, responsible, trustworthy, and a leader.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Advanced level of computer literacy – Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Professional safety training.

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday but can be unusual hours as necessary.
  • This is an exempt, salaried position. The role requires flexibility as business needs require.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

Physical and Environmental Demand

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment as well as the outside environment where temperatures routinely reach 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
  • Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights.
  • Ability to wear and use a respirator.
  • The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the applicant have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed. Furthermore, because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
