The Veterinary Services Manager oversees daily operations of the veterinary department, including clinic workflows, foster care, and community programs. They are responsible for staff management, budget planning, inventory control, and ensuring high-quality medical care for shelter animals.
Candidates must have at least three years of experience in veterinary medicine, preferably in a shelter or clinical management role. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are required to manage staff and handle the emotional demands of the shelter environment.
The Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County is eagerly seeking a dynamic Veterinary Services Manager to oversee the Veterinary, clinic and Foster Teams. As the largest and oldest intake shelter in Washington State, you would be joining a well-established and respected community organization working daily to help end pet homelessness and to provide top-quality care to animals with medical and surgical needs who would otherwise not have a chance.
The Veterinary Service Manager is responsible for coordinating daily operations of the veterinary department, which includes our community wellness clinics, our TNR program, and the foster care team. You will work closely with our veterinarians and operational staff to facilitate appropriate medical care for dogs, cats, and small mammals/exotics. This role is responsible for the management of inventory, budgets, and scheduling. This is a role where you will make a difference every single day!

Physical requirements: walking and standing frequently, sitting frequently to constantly (up to 8 hours pre day)squatting/kneeling infrequently, reaching overhead infrequently, and lifting up to 20lbs infrequently.
