Hope Haven is a Therapeutic Community that provides a foundation of recovery for individuals and families impacted by Substance Use Disorder so they can build healthy independent lives. Hope Haven was founded in 1978 by Arietta Black and Alice Trotter. Concerned with the lack of resources for women in early recovery from alcoholism, they went door to door gathering signatures of support, which they leveraged into a grant from Lance, Inc. Hope Haven used those funds to open its first home, serving five women seeking to rebuild their lives on a solid foundation of recovery. Today, Hope Haven is a licensed Therapeutic Community, which is a national best practice for the treatment of Substance Use Disorder. We serve more than 300 men, women, and children annually, including individual men and women, single moms with kids, single dads with kids, and intact families.
