The Role & Department

As Genmab advances toward commercialization in Europe, this position will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s market access strategy and execution across the region. The Senior Director, Market Access (Europe) is responsible for developing and driving European market access, reimbursement, and pricing strategies for Genmab’s oncology portfolio, ensuring coherent cross-country approaches while enabling successful local execution. This role partners closely with EU and global stakeholders in Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial Operations, and Corporate Affairs, and supports engagement with HTA bodies, payers, and policymakers across European markets. The role may also coordinate market access activities across countries to drive best practice sharing, alignment, and consistent strategic direction, and reports into the Senior Vice President Europe and Emerging market.

Responsibilities

Market Access & Reimbursement

  • Develop, implement, and drive a comprehensive European market access and reimbursement strategy for Genmab’s oncology products, aligned with corporate objectives and adaptable to country-specific requirements.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for country HTA/reimbursement submissions and pricing activities, including guidance on value dossiers, negotiations, and access pathways, working in close partnership with local market access leads and external partners as applicable.
  • Translate clinical and economic evidence into clear, compelling value narratives that can be tailored to diverse European healthcare systems and decision-making processes.
  • Monitor European and country-level health policy developments, HTA trends, and reimbursement landscapes to proactively inform regional access strategies and local execution plans.
  • Collaborate closely with global and regional Market Access colleagues to ensure alignment between European strategy, country plans, and corporate priorities, and to define governance for key access and pricing decisions.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs to shape evidence generation plans and ensure timely communication of payer-relevant clinical and real-world evidence to support access and reimbursement success across European markets.
  • Support strategic pricing decisions (including launch sequencing and lifecycle pricing), develop regional pricing guidance, and oversee budget impact/value tools to enable sustainable access while accounting for cross-country reference pricing considerations.
  • Enable country teams with European-aligned access materials, processes, and best practices (e.g., core value story, evidence tools, payer communication guidance), ensuring consistency and compliant local adaptation.

Health Policy, Stakeholder Engagement & External Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with European and country-level payer, HTA, and policy stakeholders (directly and/or through local teams), ensuring consistent engagement strategies and escalation pathways.
  • Represent Genmab in relevant European forums, working groups, and external engagements related to access, reimbursement, and pricing, in coordination with Corporate Affairs and local market teams.
  • Provide strategic input into European policy shaping and advocacy priorities in close collaboration with Corporate Affairs, ensuring country insights are incorporated and translated into coordinated regional plans.
  • Gather, synthesize, and share payer/HTA insights across countries to inform European strategy, evidence generation, launch readiness, and scenario planning.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Medical Affairs to align European evidence and value strategy, value messaging, and payer-relevant data dissemination, enabling high-quality local adaptation and execution.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs and Legal to ensure all access-related activities meet compliance and ethical standards.
  • Provide European market access leadership to cross-functional brand and launch teams, contributing to forecasting, launch sequencing, lifecycle planning, and risk mitigation, while coordinating inputs from countries.
  • Lead and coordinate the European Market Access network, ensuring that country needs are reflected in European and global strategies, and that learnings and best practices are shared and implemented across markets.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Health Economics, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Significant experience (typically 15+ years) in market access, pricing, reimbursement, or health economics within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including leadership responsibility and influence in a matrix environment.
  • Proven track record shaping and/or overseeing multi-country HTA and reimbursement submissions and pricing activities across Europe, working with local affiliates and external partners.
  • Strong understanding of European market access environments, including HTA/payer decision-making, pricing systems (including external reference pricing), and oncology market dynamics.
  • Experience in product launches and lifecycle management for specialty or oncology medicines.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). Additional European language(s) are an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, international environment.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe as needed to support country teams and external engagements.

Personal Attributes

  • Strategic and analytical mindset with a pragmatic, hands-on approach.
  • Entrepreneurial and proactive, comfortable operating in an evolving organization.
  • Strong relationship builder with both internal and external stakeholders.
