Hiring Company Overview

Tri-State Light & Energy (TSE) is a 40-year client-focused energy solutions provider committed to delivering engineering-driven strategies that improve facility performance, reduce operational and maintenance costs, and provide long-term reliable solutions by seamlessly combining technical engineering with project implementation. We focus on providing energy engineering and MEP contracting support for facility optimization and decarbonization initiatives. We are growing and looking to hire dedicated, industry-qualified candidates at all experience levels to grow with our company.

Position Summary

The Outreach Manager, based out of Woodbridge, N.J., is a dynamic, field-based role designed for a motivated professional looking to launch a career in the clean energy and engineering sectors. As a primary representative for our energy efficiency programs, you will be responsible for building brand awareness and driving program participation across New Jersey. This role focuses on community engagement—meeting with business owners, presenting them at industry events, and educating stakeholders on the financial and environmental benefits of energy conservation. We are seeking a charismatic communicator passionate about sustainability and skilled at fostering long-term professional relationships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Represent the firm at trade shows, Chamber of Commerce meetings, community events, and industry gatherings to build relationships and promote energy-efficiency initiatives.
  • Engage directly with architects, engineers, and mechanical contractors to explain utility programs, technical requirements, incentive structures, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Partner with utility outreach teams to coordinate activities, align messaging, and strengthen joint visibility with shared customer networks.
  • Implement targeted outreach initiatives that engage businesses, trade allies, and contractors to ensure clear understanding of available incentives and rebates.
  • Cultivate relationships with community organizations, local government officials, and industry leaders to expand program reach and impact.
  • Deliver lunch-and-learns, workshops, and public presentations that simplify energy-efficient technologies and program processes for diverse audiences.
  • Contribute to newsletters, case studies, technical briefs, and social media materials that highlight program successes and communicate technical updates.
  • Use CRM systems to document fieldwork, monitor outreach performance, and manage a growing network of contacts and partners.
  • Gather insights from the field to help refine program delivery, identify emerging trends, and address evolving customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred fields of study include Sustainability, Environmental Science, Marketing, Communications, or Business.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of professional experience. We highly value internships, campus leadership, or volunteer work involving public speaking and community organizing.
  • Communication Mastery: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to initiate meaningful professional dialogue in diverse networking environments.
  • Commitment to Sustainability: A genuine interest in energy conservation, decarbonization, and the advancement of New Jersey’s green economy.
  • Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using social media for professional networking and the ability to quickly master CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot or Salesforce).
  • Logistics: Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel regularly across the NJ/Tri-state region for field-based assignments.

Professional Skills

Technical Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with lighting components, HVAC equipment, HVAC systems, lighting control systems, and building envelope components.
  • Understanding of LEED, Energy Star, and/or GRESB standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and basic knowledge of CRM database software.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a focus on proactively identifying customer needs and managing expectations.
  • Capable of engaging customers, industry stakeholders, and local government officials through various communication channels.

Strategic & Professional Abilities:

  • Experience in evaluating the effectiveness of outreach strategies and proposing alternatives.
  • Experience developing professional reports, working with professional organizations, and engaging with market sector decision-makers.
  • Understanding of how to effectively engage multiple decision-making levels within a company.
  • Contacts in the construction market (builders, developers, architects, engineers, etc.).
