JOB PURPOSE:  

This position is primarily responsible for the accurate physical receiving of inbound shipments into warehouse management system (WMS), and for verifying and keeping records on received goods.  The Receiving Floor Clerk will be an essential part of the Receiving Department, ensuring that all product is accurately and timely received into the warehouse management system, in an effort to maintain integrity of inventory control.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  This position requires the Receiving Floor Clerk to physically report to work in order to effectuate the below responsibilities.  Duties apply to all accounts, located at any and all of Distribution 2000, Inc.'s locations/campuses.  Functions may apply at any Distribution 2000, Inc. facility, including 1165 W. Crossroads, 1200-1208 N. Schmidt Road and/or 1186 Arbor Drive locations; travel between facilities may be required.   

  • Communicates effectively with applicable leads, including but not limited to, Receiving Lead, Inventory Lead, and/or Inventory & Food Defense Manager, as may be applicable, with regard to load and or receiver discrepancies, issues, errors, and findings to maintain and support receiving and inventory integrity.  
  • Checks in drivers; verifies trailer seal prior to the driver’s removal (performs this task on an as needed basis, in the Lead’s or clerk’s absence).
  • Compares identifying information and counts of incoming shipments to verify information against Bills of Lading, or other records.
  • Records and checks quantity and quality of goods received.
  • Inspects, accepts, or rejects inbound shipments.  Rejects shipments on an as needed basis, in Lead’s absence, after discussing with management.  
  • Checks for damaged or infested goods.
  • Communicates with applicable lead and/or management regarding product damage.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Physically breaks down nonconforming loads, repalletizing as needed.  
  • Receiving Floor Clerk is responsible for segregating and sorting product onto individual pallets, when applicable. All product is stored one item / one lot per pallet.  If mixed pallets are unloaded, the Receiving Floor Clerk will need to physically assist on the warehouse floor in this process, or work directly with applicable Lead(s) to obtain necessary support.
  • Properly inputs received material into WMS computer system in a timely manner, returns receiving documentation to Receiving Lead to be double checked and forwarded to appropriate departments.
  • Maintains current inventory records by adding product as they are received in a timely manner, confirming proper item, quantity and lot.
  • Commits to minimizing carry over from day to day to keep inventory records as accurate and current as possible (as is expected from our customers).  Applicable Lead and/or management are advised when issues arise.
  • Assists with timely completing mid-month and end-month receiving activities, where applicable. 
  • Conducts training of new associates as necessary. 
  • Assists in other areas/departments as necessary, as applicable. 
  • Perform general cleaning duties of receiving area and warehouse generally. 
  • Enhances department and organization integrity, by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

High School diploma, or general equivalency diploma; 6-12 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.   Ability to write simple correspondence.   Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management and other employees of the organization.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret simple bar graphs. 

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

COMPUTER SKILLS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Warehouse Management systems; Inventory software; G-Suite (Google).
