We know that a positive work environment creates happy employees, which boosts productivity and dedication. On our team, you’ll have the support to excel at work and the resources to build a career you can be proud of.
The Country Head of Talent, Learning & Culture is responsible for leading and delivering the talent, learning and culture agenda within our Northern Europe region. Translating regional and global priorities into practical, business-focused solutions that strengthen organisational capability, leadership effectiveness, employee engagement and business performance.
As the country lead and integrator across talent acquisition, talent management, learning and leadership development, and culture and engagement, this role ensures a cohesive people strategy that aligns with regional direction while addressing local business needs, workforce challenges and regulatory requirements.
The role provides strategic leadership, drives operational execution, and acts as a trusted advisor to country leadership, ensuring measurable outcomes across all talent, learning and culture initiatives.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
Lead the country talent, learning and culture agenda for Northern Europe, translating regional and global strategies into practical local plans that support business priorities, workforce needs and operational goals.
Act as the country integrator across talent acquisition, talent management, succession, leadership development, learning and employee engagement, ensuring a joined-up and effective people strategy.
Partner with country leadership teams, site leaders and HR stakeholders to provide expert advice on talent, leadership capability, workforce planning, organisational effectiveness and culture.
Oversee the delivery of key talent processes including talent reviews, succession planning, leadership programmes, capability-building initiatives and employee engagement activities.
Direct and support in-country teams responsible for operational recruiting and operational training, ensuring priorities are aligned, resources are effectively deployed, and delivery standards are met.
Establish governance, performance measures and reporting frameworks to monitor hiring outcomes, leadership readiness, capability development, engagement and programme effectiveness.
Lead change management, communications and adoption activities for talent, learning and culture initiatives, ensuring successful implementation across multiple sites and operations.
Contribute to regional and global talent, learning and culture projects, sharing country insights, best practices and local market perspectives to support broader organisational objectives.
What you need to succeed in this role at GXO:
Significant experience in Talent Management, Learning & Development, Organisational Development or HR within a complex, multi-site operational environment.
Proven success delivering large-scale talent, recruitment, leadership, learning and engagement initiatives, including succession planning, capability building and leadership development programmes.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive decisions through data, insight and business-focused recommendations.
Experience leading or partnering with teams responsible for operational recruitment and training, integrating these activities into a broader people strategy.
Advanced knowledge of talent management, leadership development, learning methodologies, culture and engagement practices, and organisational change principles.
Demonstrated ability to balance regional standards with local business requirements, navigating ambiguity and competing priorities to deliver effective, pragmatic solutions.
Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with experience using people data and success metrics to evaluate impact, improve outcomes and guide decision-making.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, Business Administration or a related discipline (Master's degree and professional HR qualifications such as CIPD, SHRM or HRCI preferred).
