The Die Setter is responsible for setting up, aligning, and securing dies in stamping presses to manufacture metal components. They must ensure correct material feed, perform initial quality inspections, and troubleshoot production issues.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of experience operating stamping presses. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read die drawings are essential.

SUMMARY
The position requires an individual who can set up Stamping Presses used to manufacture metal components. In this role, the candidate will set a die in a stamping press, align the die and secure. Once installed, ensure correct material and feed material through the progressive die to produce a part. Adjustments may be required to the press as needed to obtain an acceptable part. Parts will then be checked to part drawings/quality inspection plans. Dies changeovers may, at times, require minor punch and button changes to obtain a different part configuration. These are considered In-Press0 0changeovers. Anything outside of the minor changeovers will be pulled and sent to the Toolroom for work. In addition, through the production run, the candidate may be called to troubleshoot issues. When there is no die setter work available, this position will perform the duties of a Finished Goods Production Worker but will be compensated as a Die Setter. This position reports to the Clip Express Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensure that all dies are pre-staged at the press and that all dies are set properly according to available documentation.
· Set up and operate presses that may be mechanically, or computer driven to produce parts.
· Install/Remove Stamping Dies into mechanical presses.
· Perform simple In Press Changeovers
· Run Press to achieve an Acceptable Part
· Perform Initial Inspection of Parts
· Work closely with Tool Room by providing information needed by tool and die makers to accurately diagnose and/or repair dies.
· Return the dies to the proper storage location.
· Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work process, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
· Participate in continuous improvement and assist in its implementation on an ongoing basis
· Additional Assignments within Finished Goods Production as required
SAFETY
· Works safely and follows all safety rules and operational procedures.
· Wears and maintains all required PPE.
· Keeps assigned work area clean at all times.
· Understands all safety devices and their operation. Notifies management if safety devices are malfunctioning or missing prior to operation.
· Safely operates all lifting devices per manufacturing specifications.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or GED
· Strong Mechanical Aptitude
· 2+ years of experience operating Stamping Presses
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Lifting - up to 50lbs.
· Standing - 6 or more hours per day
· Walking - Off and on, 4-6 hours per day
· Body Positions - Squatting, bending, flexing, and extending both arms
· Sitting - 2 or more hours per day
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Manufacturing facility -- exposed to heat and cold
· 1st, 2nd & 3rd Shift Positions
· Personal Protective Equipment always required while on the plant floor
· Controlled Noise exposure
· Activity level is high -- continuous movement
