SUMMARY OF POSITION We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to support our metal stamping and fabrication operations. This role is responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, maintaining accurate cost records, and supporting operational decision-making through financial insights. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in standard costing, inventory control, and manufacturing processes such as stamping, machining, and assembly. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Includes, but may not be limited to the following, other duties maybe assigned based on departmental needs and company goals:
Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead in a metal stamping environment
Perform cost variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and provide actionable recommendations
Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions, including WIP (Work-in-Process) and finished goods
Partner with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to ensure accurate bill of materials (BOMs) and routings
Analyze scrap, rework, and yield data to identify cost-saving opportunities
Support month-end close, including journal entries, inventory valuation, and account reconciliations
Prepare and present cost reports, margin analysis, and profitability studies
Assist with budgeting and forecasting related to manufacturing operations
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls related to cost accounting
Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
Evaluate cost impacts of new products, tooling, and process changes

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field accompanied by 3-5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (metal stamping or fabrication industry is preferred)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong understanding of standard costing systems and inventory accounting
Experience with ERP systems, Plex is a plus (or similar e.g. SAP, Oracle)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as stamping, welding, machining, or assembly is highly preferred
Experience in high-volume production environments
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and engineering team
Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Adaptability in a fast-paced environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time. Employees must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, reach overhead, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Tasks require manual dexterity, hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment. In addition to visual and hearing acuity; as well as identifying and distinguishing colors. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: This role is primarily based in an office environment within a high-volume manufacturing facility, with occasional responsibilities on the shop floor. When present in designated production areas, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required to ensure safety and compliance with workplace regulations.
