Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Customer Engagement plays a critical role shaping CGC’s customer strategy using market analysis and focus groups to understand customer demand and behavior in rural, low income and disadvantaged communities (LIDAC), and Tribal markets; source and shape product ideas based on customer demand, trends, and feedback; and shape strategic interventions to ensure customer solutions reach the communities who need it the most.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Solutions - Work with the Chief Customer and Impact Officer to define and drive CGC’s customer strategy – aligning customer engagement and customer data with CGC’s long term business plans focused on market transformation. Lead market analysis and focus groups strategy to 1) understand customer demand and behavior in rural, LIDAC, and Tribal markets; 2) source and shape product ideas based on customer demand, trends, and feedback; 3) shape strategic interventions to ensure customer solutions reach the communities who need it the most; and 4) ensure consumer protection is integrated into our customer solution strategy.
Local Government Engagement - Work closely with local governments, Tribes, and their partner organizations to advance public-private partnerships that can accelerate the deployment of capital to clean energy projects, delivery whole community support, and stimulate local economic development. Connect developers, community groups, utilities, green banks, and other government actors to CGC’s market development priorities. Support market development for key customer segments including rural, LIDAC, and Tribal markets, from early engagement to technical assistance, to product development, to product deployment, to financing.
Technical Assistance and Predevelopment Activities - Support market development for key customer segments including rural, LIDAC, and Tribal markets, from early engagement to technical assistance, to product development, to product deployment, to financing.
Contractor Management - Manage external contractors and partners on behalf of the Customer and Impact department. Work closely with CGC procurement and market development team to advance contractor scopes of work.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
- 4+ years of experience in impact investing, climate finance, economic development, renewable energy, management consulting, infrastructure, public policy, community development, or a related field.
- Ability to travel up to 30%
Analytical Skills
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information.
- Strong Excel proficiency.
- Experience working with datasets, KPIs, and performance tracking.
- Ability to evaluate project, developer, and investment information.
Communication
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Ability to prepare executive summaries, memoranda, and presentations.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Experience synthesizing findings into written reports and presentations.
Mission Alignment
- Demonstrated interest in climate solutions, economic opportunity, rural communities, Tribal communities, low income and disadvantaged (LIDAC) communities, or environmental and economic resilience.
Preferred
Climate & Impact
- Experience evaluating renewable energy, infrastructure, housing, economic development, or climate-related projects.
- Familiarity with:
- EPA Greenhouse Gas methodologies
- Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST)
- Impact investing frameworks
- Community benefit frameworks
Investment & Finance
- Exposure to project finance, infrastructure finance, private equity, venture capital, green banks, CDFIs, or impact funds.
- Experience supporting diligence processes or investment committees.
Market Development
• Experience conducting market research.
• Experience engaging developers, community organizations, or local stakeholders.
• Experience designing or evaluating customer-facing programs.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $151,510 – $169,122. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and overall qualifications, and may vary from the stated range. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.
