Responsibilities
The Safe Environment Coordinator manages the day-to-day administrative duties of the parish's Safe Environment program, including database maintenance and compliance tracking. They also coordinate training sessions for staff, volunteers, and youth while supporting the parish's annual audit efforts.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills are required, along with the ability to handle confidential information effectively.
General Position Summary: Under the direction of Business Manager, this position provides and maintains the day-to-day Administrative duties of the Safe Environment program for Good Shepherd Catholic Community parish.
Principal Accountabilities:
Updates and maintains Safe Environment database records, including criminal background clearance, code of conduct compliance, and required training.
Manages Safe Environment Program filing system for the parish.
Coordinates Parish Safe Environment Program with the Diocesan Office of Child and Youth Protection.
Attends Diocesan meetings on Safe Environment Programs on behalf of the parish.
Supports the parish’s compliance effort for the annual audit of the Safe Environment Program.
Updates and maintains accounts, files, and lists of all Safe Environment Program Ministry positions.
Provides materials and support to Safe Environment trainers, volunteers, and parish staff. Attends and supervises training sessions.
Coordinates with Youth Ministry Staff training sessions for teens and pre-teens and gathers and provides material for such training sessions. .
Coordinates with communications team to advertise/post upcoming sessions and book classrooms
Coordinates with Safe Environment Training facilitators to facilitate training sessions
Coordinates with all ministry leads training sessions for teens and pre-teens and gathers and provides material for such training sessions
General responsibilities -
Attend parish staff gatherings and team meetings as scheduled.
Attend continuing education opportunities related to responsibilities.
Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned by the Business Manager.

This position works in a typical office environment, but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding business needs, tight deadlines, and heavy workloads.
This position’s work schedule is during office hours, Monday through Friday
Some hours may be required during the evening and/or weekends

Education and Experience Preferred:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Computer proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Office Administration experience and organizational skills.
Planning/bookkeeping skills.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
Good interpersonal/communication, organizational and time management skills.
Must enjoy working on highly detail-oriented tasks and completing them by specific deadlines.
Good listening skills and ability to interact and respond effectively.
Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously so all projects are completed timely and accurately with attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality as well as handle highly confidential information.
Practicing Catholic in good standing.
