The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of buildings and equipment through routine inspections and basic repairs. This includes diagnosing mechanical issues, performing plumbing and electrical tasks, and coordinating with external contractors for complex repairs.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and 1-2 years of relevant experience, with a valid Class 5 Driver's License and proficiency in Microsoft 365. Trades certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical is considered a strong asset.

At the Calgary Food Bank our mission is “to make food accessible to everyone in our city”. Our core belief that no one in our community should go without food continues to serve as our guiding principle for the future. We are the first line of emergency food support for people facing crisis serving over 200,000 Emergency Food Hampers to our community last year. We also provide over 80 partner charities throughout the city with food. As an organization, we pride ourselves on being client centered, community focused, and committed to excellence in both our operations and culture.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Assistant ensures our buildings and equipment operate efficiently and safely. Performing routine inspections, preventing issues before they arise and tackling basic repairs with skill and care allows the Calgary Food Bank to continue to serve and support our community. When a complex repair arises, the Maintenance Assistant will assist in guiding external contractors to ensure everything is handled with precision.
Working conditions are normal for an office and warehouse environment. You must be able to be on your feet for the majority of the day and be able to lift up to 50lbs.
