Reporting to: Head of Physical Education

School Sport and Games Organiser

Bitterne Park School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly organised School Sport and Games Organiser to lead the coordination and development of school sport across the Solent area.

Whilst employed by Bitterne Park School, the successful candidate will work with a wide range of primary, secondary and special schools, alongside community sports organisations, National Governing Bodies and local partners to increase participation, develop leadership opportunities and deliver a comprehensive programme of sporting festivals and competitions.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about improving outcomes for young people through sport and physical activity. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering the School Games programme across the Solent area, ensuring that all young people have access to meaningful, inclusive and high-quality sporting opportunities.

The role requires a flexible approach to working hours, including occasional evening and weekend working to support events, competitions, training programmes and partnership activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver the School Games programme across the Solent area.
  • Develop and maintain a calendar of sporting competitions, festivals and participation events for primary, secondary and special schools.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, community clubs, National Governing Bodies and key stakeholders to maximise opportunities for young people.
  • Develop and support sports leadership, volunteering and officiating programmes.
  • Recruit, train and deploy young leaders and volunteers to support events and competitions.
  • Promote participation in sport and physical activity, particularly amongst underrepresented groups.
  • Support schools to develop and enhance their sporting offer.
  • Monitor participation and impact, producing reports and evaluations as required.
  • Identify and support applications for external funding opportunities.
  • Ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with safeguarding, health and safety and risk management requirements.
