MARKETING SPECIALIST

 BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area is an organization that believes in the promise of all children. BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking individuals interested in the following position(s):

Position(s) Available: One (1) 

Status: Full-Time 14-Month Term (37.5 hours per week) 

Hours: Monday to Friday - 8.30am - 4.30pm 

Location: In Person - Edmonton

Salary Range: $65 053 -$71 807 annually

The Marketing Specialist leads the development and execution of engaging copy, content creation, project management and communication strategies that support mentoring for children and youth. This role builds automated donor journeys, leverages AI for content efficiency, and ensures the agency’s digital infrastructure supports sustainable growth.

As an internal strategic lead, you will transition marketing efforts from traditional outreach to a fully integrated, digital data driven ecosystem. You will guide digital strategy for the agency’s signature Dream Home Lottery, Win50 campaign, and Volunteer Recruitment initiatives.

The key responsibilities of this position will include:

Strategic Digital Lead

  • Lead the planning, integration and execution of the digital strategy for agency campaigns and projects ensuring seamless user transitions between radio, TV print ads and digital landing pages. 
  • Serve as the primary technical lead with external agencies and partners to ensure digital ads reach the right audience, perform well, and maintain cohesive messaging. 
  • Deliver compelling messages that promote the need for mentors in the lives of children and youth.
  • Work closely with agency departments to support their marketing and communication needs.

Campaign Performance and Optimization

  • Monitor campaign data provide evidence-based recommendations to improve performance. 
  • Identify risks or opportunities for budget management and reallocation mid-campaign to maximize results. 
  • Audit landing pages to increase conversion rates for fundraising and volunteer recruitment. 
  • Mange Google Analytics dashboards and oversee cross-platform analytics using GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager and performance reporting tools. 
  • Translate technical digital metrics into clear business outcomes for leadership. 

Digital Infrastructure and Website Management

  • Manage website content and optimization using WordPress, ensuring seamless user experience for donors and volunteers. 
  • Oversee the WP Engine hosting environment including backups, staging, and launches.
  • Manage domain and DNS basics to maintain digital continuity and performance. 

Innovation and Content Development

  • Build automated donor journeys to strengthen engagement and retention. 
  • Use AI tools to enhance messaging, marketing materials, and high impact print or video content while maintaining an authentic brand voice. 
  • Ensure digital systems and content processes support long-term growth and efficiency.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in Business-Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Social Media Management for non-profit fundraising or related field. 
  • A minimum of 7 years’ combined experience in marketing, communications, and project management. 
  • Lottery and/or volunteer recruitment experience is considered a specialized asset.
  • Strong knowledge of WordPress website content management systems. 
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics, GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager and performance reporting tools. 
  • A solid understanding of the Edmonton media landscape and donor market.
  • Proven understanding of digital and social media communication mediums, database systems, and website management. 

Skills and Attributes

  • Highly creative with a strong ability and keenness to sell a concept/cause to new or established networks. 
  • Energetic and enthusiastic with the ability to engage, interact and network effectively. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and some weekends as needed.
  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle.

Candidates must be capable of performing independently as well as part of a team environment and have excellent interpersonal skills.
