The role involves contributing to the design, construction, and operation of tailings storage facilities through site investigations and stability analyses. Responsibilities also include performing dam safety inspections, managing construction quality assurance, and mentoring junior staff.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological Engineering, be a Registered Professional Engineer, and possess 5+ years of experience in tailings management. A postgraduate degree in a related engineering field is preferred.

The Role
BGC is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical or Geological Engineer. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, construction, and operation of greenfield or existing tailings storage facilities. The candidate will be supported by an existing multi-disciplinary team of geotechnical/geological engineers, geoscientists, hydrologists, hydrogeologists and others.
This position can be based at one of our Canadian locations listed here.
Responsibilities
The scope of work will include site investigation planning and execution, foundation and tailings characterization for geotechnical design, assessment of hazards and failure modes, stability analyses, development of construction drawings and specifications, construction oversight and quality assurance, response to contractor and client requests for information, dam safety inspections, instrumentation data review, and records reporting. Position Requirements

Driver’s License
BGC requires that employees have a valid driver's license, and that employees can drive a field pickup truck. Upon hiring, BGC will require a driver’s abstract to allow for a safety review of your driving history.

Compensation
The estimated base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 CAD per annum, however base pay will be commensurate with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. BGC's compensation package also includes a discretionary bonus plan, training allowance, and comprehensive medical and dental plan.
