2nd Shift Machining Lead Bench Dogs | Denver, PA
Lead. Mentor. Make Things Happen.
Bench Dogs is growing, and we're looking for a hands-on Machining Lead to provide leadership and support for our 2nd Shift Machining team. If you're an experienced machinist who enjoys coaching others, solving problems, driving quality, and keeping production moving, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a working-lead role: you'll spend most of your shift running machines yourself, while also directing daily workflow, training, and quality decisions for the 2nd shift team. You're the senior authority on the floor for 2nd shift - the role does not carry formal direct reports, but you'll be the one people turn to when a call needs to be made.
Schedule Monday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM. A four-day workweek with a 3-day weekend, every week.
Pay $27–$31/hour, based on experience.
What You'll Do
- Run and set up machines yourself as an active member of the 2nd shift team.
- Lead and support the daily operations of the 2nd Shift Machining department.
- Provide direction, coaching, and training to team members.
- Monitor production schedules and help prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ensure products are manufactured according to quality standards and specifications.
- Assist with machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
- Communicate production needs, concerns, and shift updates with supervisors and other departments.
- Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and workflow.
- Serve as a positive role model for attendance, teamwork, and professionalism.
What We're Looking For
- 4–6 years of hands-on CNC and/or manual machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience informally training, mentoring, or directing peers - a formal supervisory title is not required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and GD&T.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, indicators).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including comfort being the senior point of contact on shift without a supervisor present.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
