Incarnate Word High School, an all-girls Catholic college preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, seeks an energetic and creative Part-Time Dance Teacher to teach one to two dance courses and establish a student dance organization that promotes artistic expression, performance, leadership, and school spirit.
Reports To:
Principal and Academic Dean
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Responsibilities:
Teach one to two sections of Dance.
Develop a curriculum aligned with Texas Fine Arts standards.
Provide instruction in dance technique, choreography, performance skills, movement analysis, and dance history.
Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and self- expression.
Assess student progress through performances, projects, reflections, and demonstrations.
Maintain current lesson plans, grades, and instructional records.
Dance Program Leadership:
Establish and direct the IWHS Dance Ensemble.
Recruit students and cultivate participation across grade levels.
Coordinate performances for school events, admissions programs, assemblies, and community outreach activities.
Choreograph student performances and showcases.
Develop student leadership opportunities within the dance organization.
Explore participation in local dance festivals and educational performance opportunities.
Professional Responsibilities:
Attend faculty meetings, retreats, professional development, and school events.
Collaborate with faculty and administration regarding student progress and program development.
Support the mission and Catholic identity of IWHS.
Participate in school supervision and extracurricular duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Dance Education, Performing Arts, or related field.
Teaching certification preferred.
Experience teaching and choreographing dance at the secondary level preferred.
Knowledge of multiple dance styles and performance techniques.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Ability to inspire confidence and artistic growth in young women.
Successful completion of background check and VIRTUS training.
