Description

Summary

The Paint Technician is responsible for preparing and applying protective coatings and finishes to HVAC tanks and related components. This role ensures all surfaces are properly cleaned, prepped, and painted according to industry specifications, safety standards, and company quality requirements. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial painting processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a production or fabrication environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Champion safety by leading with a safety-first mindset in all initiatives. You are empowered to speak up and act before risks arise.
  • Spray painting of hydro equipment
  • Main painting duties include: laying down equipment, cleaning and washing, mixing paint, and spraying it on the equipment
  • Opportunity to learn more positions on the floor
  • Comply with all company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Conducting quality assurance checks to confirm meets specifications
  • Determine work sequence
  • Complete assignments based on production needs
  • Understand procedures and processes for department
  • Contribute ideas to improve or optimize procedures
  • Follow company process standards, procedures and company policies in the shop including PPE use, proper part handling, and warehouse organization and cleanliness
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Attendance - Reports to work as scheduled. Follows established procedures for breaks. Notifies supervisor in advance of scheduling changes
  • Dependability - Extent to which employee demonstrates a positive attitude and promotes cooperation with supervisors, peers, and others
  • 5S - Extent to which the employee keeps their work area clean and orderly after each shift. Cleans and organizes during extended down time
  • Work Attitude and Stewardship - Extent to which employee demonstrates a positive attitude and promotes cooperation with supervisors, peers and others. They also focus on utilizing company resources as a good steward
  • Job Knowledge - Understand duties, responsibilities and has ability to use materials as needs with the level of proficiency required to accomplish the work
  • Initiative - Ability to be self-directed, efficient, creative and resourceful. Assumes extra work and adapts quickly to new responsibilities
  • Quantity and Quality of Work - Amount of work completed in work week with accuracy and care for customer
  • Problem Solving/Decision Making - Extent to which the employee can assess a problem and offer solutions for resolution

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous warehouse experience a plus
  • Forklift experience, preferred
  • Proven ability to safely operate shop equipment

Physical Requirements

  • The following physical activities are essential for performing the core responsibilities of this position.
  • Standing/Walking: Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time (typically 4-6 hours in an 8-hour shift).
  • Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Bending/Stooping: Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or reach to perform tasks (e.g., retrieving items, accessing low areas).
  • Reaching: Ability to reach overhead or extend arms forward to perform job-related tasks.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hands for fine motor tasks (e.g., typing, handling tools, or operating machinery).
  • Vision: Ability to see clearly (with or without correction) to perform job tasks (e.g., reading documents, observing equipment, etc.).
  • Hearing: Ability to hear (with or without hearing aids) to effectively communicate with others and understand verbal instructions or safety alerts.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, as this position may require interacting with colleagues, clients, and supervisors.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds, depending on job function (e.g., equipment, carts, etc.).
  • Climbing: Ability to climb ladders or stairs to access areas such as storage or equipment. This may require balance and coordination.
  • Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods (typically 1-2 hours) as required for certain job tasks (e.g., working at a desk, computer, or driving).

Work Environment:

This position is based in a welding and fabrication facility with exposure to typical industrial shop conditions. The environment may include:

Heat, sparks, and fumes generated by welding and cutting equipment

Moderate to loud noise levels from machinery and tools

Must be willing and able to work outside in a manufacturing/warehouse environment with varying temperatures.

Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
