Associated with Raytheon Technologies Applying DevOps Principles to GPNTS Team Team members: Ross Brown, German Pineda, Matthew Potterton, Mandy Prescott-Courville, Ricardo Rivero Late in the military GPS user equipment software qualification test for the GPS-based Positioning, Navigation and Timing Service it became clear that the current testing approach was woefully inadequate and significant amounts of unplanned work would be needed to finish the testing. A Raytheon Six Sigma effort was initiated to leverage the principles of DevOps and use automated verification to rapidly develop a more efficient approach to SQT execution. This Six Sigma effort resulted in ~$5 million of cost avoidance and a >50 percent reduction in the duration of the formal verification event.
