About Erik

High/low Level Developer | Backend | Engineering Manager & Agile Team Lead | Problem solver

Experienced Backend Developer and Engineering Manager with the eager of making the world a better place. Are you? Then let's join arms!

I am a problem-solving-oriented person who loves challenges. From my education, work at huge players like Axis Communications, small and fast IT-startups like Dubsmash, to academic industry-changing companies like ResearchGate, research driven projects at Lund University, and spare time interests I have gathered a broad base of knowledge and has become an experienced Software Engineer and Engineering Manager, always eager to master new technologies and social skills.

I've been working with technologies including Java, C, Python, Go, Linux/BSD platform and open source projects, but I am adept and interested in many others. I spend my free time to hack on all sorts of projects; contributing with patches, bug reports and discussions.

I'm interested in the Agile process of software development more specifically in that a team can change the way they work to achieve their goals. I've been a Scrum/Kanban master for teams involving different disciplines like firmware developers, web developers and QA testers. From there on I've worked as Engineering Manager to learn more about especially personal development coaching, company , recruitment, and organization and goal setting (OKRs).

During my studies I've gained many social & leadership skills during my spare time from being a club foreman, leader for a web development team at the Computer Science Association in Lund, international mentor which already has me in my international career in understanding and working across cultures. I've learned how to engage people to volunteer work, educate and instruct both technical matters and social skills, taking responsibility under security safety laws.

As a person I love challenges and I'm very passionate and engaged in them, likes to take initiative, being creative and solution oriented and share my learnings. My social skills gained from being in leader positions in student associations makes it easy to work with me. I like to really dig down in specific problems and technologies but I'm still always eager to explore new fields to gain more experience which means that I have both specific as well as generic competences.

Conducted an in-depth technical study on Google’s Go programming language and its applicability for embedded systems development within Axis’ product environment. The project combined academic research with practical implementation and resulted in the thesis “Using the Go Programming Language in Practice.” Key aspects of the work included: * Evaluated Go’s language design and tooling (compilers, build system, standard library, cross-compilation support) from the perspective of embedded firmware development. * Implemented and cross-compiled Go code for Axis’ MIPS-based embedded platform, including integration with existing C code using cgo. * Developed a working cross-compilation toolchain and build wrapper, enabling Go applications to run on Axis devices. * Investigated developer productivity and software quality aspects of adopting Go compared to C/C++ for embedded use cases. * Contributed findings to the Go community (e.g., tutorials on cross-compilation and callback handling). * The work provided Axis with a strategic evaluation of Go’s maturity and potential for adoption in future product development. Some years later, Go was chosen as the new main language for embedded development!
