Senior SWE at Turing, Open to Work
Hello! I'm Dessie and I'm currently looking for a new full-time position or part-time contract work. I have a B.S. from California Institute of Technology in Computer Science. I worked at Microsoft under the Windows and Devices Data Access team for 4.5 years. I'm very curious about roles in the energy sector.
I'm a data engineer. I write pipelines that move petatypes of data daily, monitor databases, and work on systems that query those databases and serve our clients, data scientists. I spent most of my time at Microsoft writing in C# but have experience with Java, Python, Sql, and other languages. I had also been doing security work for my team as part of Microsoft's Secure Future's Initiative after the Midnight Blizzard attacks.
Outside of the technical parts of my job, I love to mentor interns and early career engineers. I volunteer with the NCWIT WA Affiliate Chapter Aspirations in Computing Committee and with Girls Who Code to mentor high school and college students and give back to a community that helped me when I was in school.
I'm looking to network with other women in tech, learn more about security, and enhance my knowledge of data-intensive applications. I'm also always happy to mentor students interested in a tech role. I also tutor for AP Comp Sci and college data structures classes. Feel free to message me if you're interested in either of those options and would like to chat.
