Associated with Northwestern University In the Spring of 2016, my Chinese professor recommended me to represent Northwestern's Chinese Language Department in the annual Midwest Chinese Bridge Speech Competition at DePaul University. I wrote a speech which highlighted the cultural differences that I experienced as an American living in Shanghai through comparing my Chinese host mom (or 阿姨) with my birth mother. I presented the speech at the competition, and also performed a Chinese song for the talent portion of the competition. I was honored to receive 2nd place!
