About this role

About Zipline

Zipline is the world’s largest and most experienced drone delivery service. We are on a mission to serve all humans equally by ensuring access to food, medicine and essential goods anytime, anywhere. We design, build, and operate the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies quickly and reliably. Today, Zipline operates on four continents, makes a delivery somewhere in the world every 30 seconds, and has completed millions of deliveries to date, including blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and retail products.

Our customers include the world’s largest and most prominent healthcare systems, governments, retailers, restaurants and global businesses who rely on us to save lives, reduce emissions, increase economic opportunity, and provide delivery from point A to point B as fast as possible. The drone is only 15% of what we’ve built to enable seamless, reliable, global operations.

Our system strengthens supply chains, reduces congestion, and gives people time back. With more than 140 million commercial autonomous miles safely flown, Zipline is redefining access to healthcare, consumer products, and food across the globe.

We operate at a global scale and are looking for practical problem solvers who thrive on real-world challenges and rapid growth. Our team is motivated by building systems that have a direct, meaningful impact on people’s lives and by scaling the future of logistics. We are seeking people who sculpt from first principles, enjoy facing adversity, and can do the impossible at record breaking speeds.

About You and The Role

Zipline operates autonomous delivery systems where safety, reliability, and growth depend on understanding performance across flights, hardware, software, and operations. Engineers and leaders need trusted system-health data to detect issues, evaluate tradeoffs, and prioritize improvements.

You will own core system-health analytics products within Systems Engineering: the metrics, data models, monitoring, and analyses that inform fleet reliability and safety decisions. Working with Systems Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and partner teams, you will turn raw flight data into tools people rely on to understand fleet performance and act on meaningful changes.

What You’ll Do

  • Own dashboards, alerting tools, and analyses for core flight reliability, safety, and system-performance metrics.
  • Define and maintain metric definitions and shared warehouse data models used for system-health reporting.
  • Write SQL and Python scripts to extract, validate, and analyze system-performance data from raw flight logs.
  • Partner with Systems Engineering and cross-functional teams to monitor hardware, software, and operational-system health.
  • Investigate meaningful fleet trends and system interactions, translating findings into inputs for engineering prioritization and safety reviews.
  • Improve data accessibility and query efficiency across technical systems, enabling dependable self-service reporting.
  • Deliver trusted, adopted analytics products that help teams detect issues earlier and make clearer reliability, safety, and performance tradeoffs.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of data analysis or business intelligence experience, ideally supporting real-world hardware, software, or operational systems.
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, aggregations, window functions, query optimization, and debugging on large relational datasets.
  • Experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse or data lake platform.
  • Proficiency with a visualization tool such as Mode, ThoughtSpot, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to engineers, operators, and senior leadership.
  • Sound analytical judgment and ability to independently manage multiple investigations or data products.
  • Python analysis experience is preferred; familiarity with DBT, GIS or spatial analysis, and GitHub workflows is helpful.

Company at a glance

Zipline was founded to create the first logistics system that serves all humans equally, with an aim to solve the world’s most urgent and complex access challenges. It leverages expertise in robotics and autonomy to design, manufacture and operate the world’s largest automated delivery system, serving tens of millions of people worldwide and building an equitable, more resilient global supply chain. Zipline powers Rwanda’s national blood delivery network and supported Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution, while providing on-demand home delivery for Walmart in the United States and enabling leading healthcare providers to bring care into the home in the United States. It is transitioning to clean, electric, instant logistics to decarbonize delivery, decrease road congestion, and reduce fossil fuel consumption and air pollution while delivering equitable access for billions. Zipline inspires people, governments, and businesses to imagine what is possible when goods can move as seamlessly as information.
