What’s the role?
The Process Engineer is an integral part of the process engineering team who continuously improves manufacturing processes to optimize productivity, ensure process and equipment validations are maintained, and support new high-technology products introductions under minimal supervision. As part of the global ZEISS process engineering team, this opportunity involves coordination and contributions with other locations to continually improve best practices.

Here’s what you’ll do:
The major function of this position is to independently evaluate manufacturing processes to propose, develop and lead optimization measures that continuously optimize manufacturing capacity, yield rate, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
Manage industrialization for new high-technology products.
Research and specify new equipment required to lead initiatives to make yield and productivity improvements.
Identifies, plans, and executes initiatives or projects for improvements guiding TPM team, technicians, and production leads.
Independently manage projects to perform equipment and software optimization. Including projects that promote digital and automated solutions on the manufacturing line.
As an engineering liaison, lead the industrialization of new products introduced by both the local R&D team and as back-up production lines to ZEISS global locations by managing new equipment introduction and defining processes.
Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions, inspection methods and other related documentation, as well as train the necessary personnel.
Author, coordinate, and perform equipment, process, and software validations.
Contribute to the global ZEISS team through coordination and implementation of improvement projects with sister sites overseas. Promote knowledge transfer and coordination for implementation of improvement projects from ZEISS global locations to Ontario, CA and vice versa.
This engineering opportunity involves both a hands-on position as well as the requirement to analyze, plan and lead projects in the day-to-day responsibilities.
As an engineering liaison, support CAPA projects and root cause analysis to investigate productivity or quality issues with assistance from Operations and Quality Management.
Assist Sr. Process Engineer in providing guidance to junior team members regarding engineering tasks.
Do you qualify?
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in Engineering with 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, including engineering projects, OR 9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Strong manufacturing engineering background with experience supporting high-volume, fast-paced production environments.
Strong mechanical and hands-on technical experience.
Experience with process improvement, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
Ability to analyze data, identify problems, establish facts, and develop practical solutions.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures, specifications, and regulatory documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in medical device or ophthalmic manufacturing.
Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
Experience in FDA Class III or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of FDA/QSR, GMP, ISO 9000, CE Mark, ANSI, and U.S./international medical device regulations.
Hands-on experience with CNC, lathes, and milling equipment.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S.
Experience managing engineering projects.
Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
Compensation:
Salary Range: The annual pay range for this position is $99,500 - $124,400.
Actual compensation will depend on factors such as location, experience, education, skills, and role scope
