Warehouse Supervisor
About this role
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and returns.
Lead, allocate and monitor the warehouse team to ensure tasks are completed safely, accurately and within required timeframes.
Receive, unload and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders, delivery notes and expected quantities.
Ensure goods are stored safely, correctly labelled, organised and easy to locate.
Oversee order picking, packing and dispatch activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customer and company requirements.
Monitor stock levels and coordinate regular stock counts, cycle counts and inventory checks.
Investigate and report stock discrepancies, damaged goods, shortages and operational issues promptly.
Ensure warehouse systems, stock records, delivery documents and dispatch information are updated accurately.
Coordinate the safe loading and unloading of vehicles, following manual handling procedures and site safety requirements.
Ensure warehouse equipment, including pallet trucks, trolleys, scanners and other tools, is used safely and maintained appropriately.
Maintain a clean, tidy and organised warehouse, ensuring aisles, storage areas and workspaces remain safe and accessible.
Support the management of returns, transfers, recycling and the safe disposal of damaged or obsolete stock.
Train, guide and support warehouse team members, promoting high standards of performance, teamwork and customer service.
Monitor productivity, workflow and warehouse performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Ensure compliance with company procedures relating to health and safety, security, quality control and manual handling.
Report operational updates, incidents and performance issues to the Warehouse Manager or relevant department.
Qualifications and Experience
Previous experience as a Warehouse Supervisor, Warehouse Team Leader, Warehouse Operative, Stock Controller or in a similar logistics role.
Proven experience supervising a warehouse team and coordinating day-to-day warehouse operations.
Strong knowledge of goods receiving, stock control, order fulfilment, picking, packing, dispatch and warehouse procedures.
Experience using warehouse management systems, inventory software, handheld scanners and Microsoft Office applications.
Good understanding of health and safety, manual handling, warehouse security and quality control requirements.
Excellent organisational, planning and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy warehouse environment.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate stock, delivery and operational records.
Confident communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support a diverse warehouse team.
Ability to handle goods safely and carry out physical work, including lifting, moving and loading items when required.
Reliable, punctual, practical and willing to take a hands-on approach to warehouse supervision.
Forklift truck experience or a recognised forklift licence is desirable.
Flexibility to work varied hours, including early starts, late finishes, weekends or public holidays when required.
