About this role

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload and check incoming deliveries against purchase orders, delivery notes and expected quantities.

  • Store goods safely and efficiently, ensuring stock is correctly labelled, organised and easy to locate.

  • Pick, pack and prepare orders for dispatch accurately and within required timeframes.

  • Load and unload vehicles safely, following manual handling procedures and site safety requirements.

  • Carry out stock counts and regular inventory checks, reporting discrepancies, damaged goods or shortages promptly.

  • Update stock records, delivery documents and warehouse systems accurately.

  • Use warehouse equipment, including pallet trucks, trolleys, scanners and other tools, safely and effectively.

  • Maintain a clean, tidy and organised warehouse, ensuring aisles, storage areas and workspaces remain safe and accessible.

  • Assist with returns, transfers, recycling and the safe disposal of damaged or obsolete stock.

  • Follow company procedures relating to health and safety, security, quality control and manual handling.

  • Support other warehouse and logistics activities as required by the Warehouse Manager or Supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience as a Warehouse Assistant, Warehouse Operative, Stock Controller, Stores Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.

  • Experience receiving deliveries, picking and packing orders, stock control and general warehouse operations.

  • Ability to handle goods safely and carry out physical work, including lifting, moving and loading items when required.

  • Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate stock and delivery records.

  • Basic computer skills and confidence using warehouse management systems, inventory software or handheld scanners.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy warehouse environment.

  • Reliable, punctual, team-oriented and willing to take a hands-on approach.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, drivers, suppliers and other departments.
