Under the direction of the Youth/Sports Director and in accordance with the Association policies set forth by the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County, the Sports Site Lead is responsible for the overall supervision, organization, and implementation of high-quality sports programs at a specific program site. The Sports Site Lead will ensure program outcomes are consistently achieved and that participant’s development occurs in a fun, healthy, safe environment.

Set up and take down equipment and supplies needed to conduct the program. Maintain equipment and supplies and ensure all are in good condition and safe for participant use.
Direct, supervise, and lead sports program instructors and volunteers during the program.
Direct instructors, volunteers, and program participants to proper court/field.
Meet with instructors and volunteers to ensure understanding and comprehension of daily lesson plans, skills, and drills.
Monitor, evaluate, and adjust program lesson plan or league schedule when necessary due to ensure quality experience for all participants.
Instruct classes and referee as needed. Substitute for staff and volunteers when required.
Ensure safety and cleanliness of all program areas.
Compile program statistics and/or scores. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of schedule, program plans, and participation in programs.
Develop rapport and maintain effective relationships with program participants and their parents. Act as a positive role model using the YMCA’s core values of honesty, caring, responsibility, and respect.
Respond to all member and participant inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Share information with Program Director.
Assist in marketing and distribution of program information for each program or league session.
Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.
Monitor daily program operations to adhere to YMCA health and safety regulations.
Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Complete incident form when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Employees are held responsible for all duties of the job.

QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must be at least 18 years of age and have completed high school or its equivalent.
Two years of previous instructional sports experience required.
First Aid and CPR certification required.
Ability to exercise mature judgement and sound decision making including reacting calmly and quickly in an emergency.
Ability to demonstrate and verbally articulate, with volume, instructions for variety of sports to the appropriate age group.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must be energetic, motivating, and enjoy working with children.
Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, and work and navigate programming indoors and outdoors; must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children; see and hear well enough to keep children safe; and engage in physical activity with children.
