Job Purpose
To inspect CNC machined parts and ensure all parts meet drawing requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality standards before release to the next process or shipment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform dimensional inspection for CNC machined parts according to engineering drawings and inspection plans.
2. Use measuring instruments such as Vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, bore gauge, thread gauge, pin gauge, dial indicator, and surface roughness tester.
3. Conduct first article inspection, in process inspection, and final inspection.
4. Check critical dimensions, tolerance, surface finish, thread quality, hole position, flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity, and other drawing requirements.
5. Read and understand technical drawings, GD&T symbols, material specifications, and inspection requirements.
6. Record inspection results accurately in inspection reports or check sheets.
7. Identify and report nonconforming parts to the supervisor or quality engineer.
8. Segregate rejected parts and ensure proper identification of accepted, rejected, and pending inspection items.
9. Work closely with CNC operators, production team, and quality team to clarify quality issues.
10. Support root cause investigation when repeated defects or machining issues are found.
11. Ensure measuring tools are handled properly and sent for calibration when required.
12. Maintain good housekeeping at the inspection area.
13. Follow company quality, safety, and production control procedures.
Requirements
1. Minimum NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
2. At least 1 to 3 years of inspection experience in CNC machining or precision engineering industry.
3. Able to read mechanical drawings and understand tolerance requirements.
4. Able to use common measuring instruments independently.
5. Knowledge of GD&T will be an advantage.
6. Experience in CMM inspection will be an advantage.
7. Able to work in rotating shift or overtime when required.
8. Good attention to detail and responsible working attitude.
9. Able to communicate inspection findings clearly with production and quality team.
Preferred Skills
1. CNC machined part inspection experience.
2. Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality system.
3. Basic understanding of machining defects such as burr, dent, scratch, tool mark, oversize, undersize, misalignment, thread damage, and surface finish issue.
4. Able to prepare simple inspection reports.
5. Able to handle urgent inspection based on production schedule.
