Role Summary:
To perform precision mechanical assembly, alignment, and mechanical quality verification for industrial equipment, following approved work instructions and standard operating procedures, and ensuring all mechanical work meets required quality and accuracy standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical Assembly & Installation
Assemble and install mechanical components, modules, and sub‑assemblies according to approved work instructions.
Carry out mechanical assembly work involving:
Structural assemblies
Linear motion components
Rotational and sliding mechanisms
Mechanical drive and support parts
Ensure correct assembly sequence, fit, and positioning of components.
2. Mechanical Alignment & Adjustment
Perform mechanical alignment and adjustment to ensure smooth movement, correct geometry, and positional accuracy.
Carry out tasks such as:
Equipment leveling
Straightness and parallelism adjustment
Squareness and alignment checks between moving parts
Adjust shims or spacers where required and ensure final settings meet specifications.
3. Torque Control & Fastening
Tighten mechanical fasteners using specified torque values and approved tools.
Ensure consistent tightening, correct fastener length usage, and proper fastening practices.
Apply required identification or marking after tightening where specified.
4. Precision Measurement & Mechanical Verification
Conduct mechanical measurements using precision instruments such as:
Dial indicators
Precision levels
Measuring gauges and micrometers
Verify mechanical accuracy including:
Runout
Straightness
Parallelism
Concentricity
Confirm results meet defined tolerances before proceeding to the next stage.
5. Quality Records & Documentation
Accurately complete mechanical quality check records for assigned tasks.
Ensure all required fields are filled correctly, with clear pass/fail judgment.
Handover completed records according to standard workflow requirements.
6. Defect Identification & Escalation
Identify and report mechanical issues such as:
Misalignment or abnormal movement
Surface damage (scratches, dents)
Abnormal noise, stiffness, or leaks
Escalate issues promptly and support corrective actions before handover.
7. Safety, Housekeeping & Standard Work
Follow all workplace safety rules when handling tools, equipment, and components.
Maintain good housekeeping throughout assembly activities.
Adhere strictly to standard work processes and approved instructions.
Requirements:
Hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly or fitting
Ability to:
Read and follow work instructions and drawings
Perform mechanical alignment and adjustment
Use precision measurement tools accurately
Basic understanding of mechanical tolerances and fastening principles
Qualifications and Experience
NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field,
or equivalent practical mechanical assembly experience
Experience in precision or industrial equipment assembly is an advantage
