The Opportunity

Our Transmission & Electrification team partners with clients across sectors—Transmission & Distribution, Generation, Renewables, Transportation, Property & Buildings, Defence, Water, and Mining—to deliver Future Ready solutions. 

We’re looking for a Secondary Design Engineer to provide critical electrical engineering expertise on major projects and mentor the next generation of engineers. This role can be based anywhere in Australia, with teams in NSW, VIC, QLD, and SA. 

We are accepting applications from experienced engineers through to Senior Engineers who are ready to make an impact. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Design and review secondary systems and protection schemes for transmission and distribution projects 
  • Prepare technical documentation—design reports, equipment specs, cable schedules, and interface documents 
  • Apply knowledge of primary substation elements, transmission lines, underground cables, and earthing design 
  • Support high-voltage scopes for Owner’s Engineer and Technical Due Diligence projects 
  • Lead or support design projects and coordinate across disciplines (Primary, SCADA, Power Systems, Structural, Drafting) 
  • Undertake short-term site visits as needed 

 

 

About You 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • 2-10 years’ experience in the technical delivery of transmission and distribution projects (ideally in consultancy) 
  • Strong background in secondary design—protection, control, AC/DC systems, SCADA 
  • Knowledge of EHV/HV electrical engineering from concept to detailed design 
  • Knowledge of IEC61850 implementation highly desirable 
  • RPEQ/RPEV or ability to attain 
  • Good client-facing and communication skills 
  • Skilled in technical reporting
