Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Principal Project Planner. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Edmonton, Alberta.
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically accomplished Principal Project Planner to lead planning and scheduling functions on large-scale, complex Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC/EPCM) projects.
This role requires a strategic-level planner with deep expertise in major project schedule development, execution planning, interface management, and integrated schedule governance with strong exposure to oil & gas, pipelines, LNG, and mining infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of integrated Level 1–4 EPC/EPCM schedules for major capital projects.
  • Lead and facilitate structured interactive planning sessions (schedule development workshops) with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Client stakeholders to collaboratively develop the project execution logic, interfaces, and secure cross-functional ownership of the integrated schedule.
  • Provide schedule strategy during proposal, FEED, and execution phases.
  • Develop detailed engineering work plans aligned with discipline deliverables.
  • Build engineering progress measurement systems (weighted milestones, earned value.
  • Align engineering schedule with procurement material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor data requirements.
  • Develop procurement schedules including Long-lead equipment, Bulk materials, Module fabrication and overseas manufacturing.
  • Develop Construction & Commissioning Schedule based on Construction work packaging, Area-based and system-based sequencing, and Modularization strategies.
  • Ensure consistency between EPCM master schedule and contractor schedules.
  • Conduct schedule risk analysis (SRA) and Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Perform critical path and near-critical path analysis.
  • Lead time impact analysis (TIA) and forensic schedule assessments.
  • Develop recovery and mitigation plans.
  • Support claims avoidance and dispute resolution through defensible scheduling practices.
  • Oil & Gas (upstream, downstream, LNG, pipelines, oil sands).
  • Mining and mineral processing facilities (greenfield and brownfield).
  • Integrated engineering and construction schedule build-up.
  • Multi-office and multi-country execution environments.
  • Proven track record in mega-project planning leadership.

What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:

+15 Years of Progressive Planning Experience, including:

  • Major EPC or EPCM capital projects (> $500M value).
  • Advanced expertise in Primavera P6 (Enterprise environment).
  • Experience with integrated cost & schedule (EVM).
  • Schedule Risk Analysis tools (e.g., Primavera Risk Analysis).
  • Deep understanding of Interface milestone management and Construction work packaging.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • PMI-SP, PMP, or AACE PSP certification preferred.
