About the role

We’re looking for an organized, proactive Materials Librarian to own and evolve our firm’s materials library. This role is ideal for someone deeply familiar with the interior design industry and energized by sourcing, discovery, and keeping a library fresh, relevant, and inspiring. This role is key in in supporting designers across all project phases by maintaining a well‑curated materials collection and helping source specific materials as needed. This position partners closely with design teams and vendors to ensure the library functions as a strategic design resource.

What you'll do

  • Proactively source and introduce new, relevant materials to the firm on a regular basis
  • Maintain and update the materials library, including auditing and removing discontinued or outdated samples
  • Organize and re‑file materials weekly to ensure the library remains clear, intuitive, and easy to use
  • Assist designers with sourcing specific materials for active projects
  • Assemble client‑facing sample packages and coordinate vendor sample packages for projects in progress
  • Coordinate and schedule vendor presentations and material reviews for the design team
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendor representatives and showrooms
  • Track new samples and manage incoming and outgoing materials

Materials you’ll work with include (but are not limited to):
Fabrics, leathers, woods, stones, rugs, metals, tile, plumbing fixtures, flooring, paint, plaster, wallcoverings, and specialty finishes

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of interior design and architectural materials and vendor networks
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Self‑starter who can work independently and take ownership of the materials library
  • Comfortable communicating with designers, vendors, and showroom representatives
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and Adobe InDesign
  • Prior experience in a design studio, showroom, or materials library preferred
