About this role

We are excited to announce an opening for a Baker who will be instrumental in delivering fresh, homemade, and delicious baked goods, while ensuring a welcoming dining experience for our students, faculty, and staff.

  • Pay: Ranges from at $25.00 - $27.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
  • Position: Full time: 40 hours per week, 12 months per year
  • Location: Paresky Kitchen, reporting to the Senior Operations Manager in Paresky
  • Shift: Tuesday through Saturday 2:00 am -10:30 am, with Sunday and Monday off.

This position is eligible for premium pay, including overtime and applicable shift differentials, for work performed during holidays, weekends, emergency snow response, and other qualifying shifts. Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the production of baked goods for breakfast, lunch, dinner, catered events and other special requests using standardized recipes
  • Ensures adherence to CBORD, FSS procedures as related to menu, inventory control, food purchasing, and recipe usage.
  • Responsible for following standardized recipes, methods and techniques.
  • Assures that inventory par values of no more than 11 ½ weeks on hand are maintained and the proper rotation of goods using the FIFO method is practiced.
  • Follow proper HACCP guidelines while following the MA Code as they pertain to food, inventory control and sanitation. Ensures prepared food is covered and stored properly per MA Food Code.
  • Ensures all food items are labelled for allergen safety utilizing Net Nutrition and Bartender Labelling system.
  • Interacts effectively with customers and coworkers ensuring two-way communication.
  • Proper uniform and personal hygiene as set forth by Williams Dining Services is required at all times.
  • Assists the manager in the development of the kitchen staff as a professional team and that all issues are addressed in accordance with Williams Dining Services Conflict Resolution Policy
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of baking experience
  • Must be able to interpret and apply standardized recipes
  • Good communication skills
  • Current SERVSAFE certification or has successfully completed a sanitation course within the past year
  • Culinary Arts Baking and Pastry Certificate preferred
  • Must be able to work independently, stand for prolonged periods of time, and handle heavy material involving lifting of at least 40 lbs and bending and complete duties as assigned
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic and possess strong customer service skills
  • Ability to relate to customers and staff in a professional manner is essential
