About The Role

We are seeking experienced Shift Engineers to join our underground operations at Narrabri.

The Shift Engineer is accountable for implementing and reporting of variance of the engineering elements including both electrical and mechanical tasks as detailed in Mine planning tool for their respective shift.  The Shift Engineer in conjunction with the Shift Undermanager are the shift leadership team ensuring safety targets, site standards and legislative WHS matters are maintained. The role is responsible for  managing the performance and providing leadership to the tradespersons on their shift.

What You’ll Do

  • Effectively work with the Shift Undermanger to form the shift leadership team
  • Liaise directly with Undermanager’s, Deputies, Trades, and operators regarding equipment performance to determine maintenance requirements and reliability issues to be addressed.
  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are completed in accordance with statutory, and site regulations
  • Ensuring all crews are aware of, and are following, HSEC policies and procedures
  • Where equipment has suffered breakdowns and failures, the Shift Engineer will attend those break downs to provide technical assistance

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Underground Coal Mining
  • Tertiary qualifications in a Mechanical or Electrical Trade (required)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (desired)
  • Management of personnel including employees, contractors and OEM’s
  • Experienced in the use of Maintenance Management Systems (Pulse)
  • Ability to motivate yourself and others to meet production targets whilst maintaining positive team culture
