Job Title: Food Services Associate (FSA)

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Food Service Manager

Full or Part-time: Full-Time

Team: Center for Women and Children

Position Summary

Executes all operational aspects of kitchen support during their assigned shift. Works alongside other food service associates, volunteers, and program guests in a collaborative effort to provide nutritious meals to approximately 100 – 350 guests, staff, and other participants while maintaining a safe, clean environment and grace-filled environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Brief description of duties in order of priority

Key Area: Is responsible for providing 3 meals per day at assigned site including:

Preparation, serving, and cleanup.
Maintenance of a safe and clean kitchen environment that meets all applicable state, county, and city statutes and codes and complies with best practice standards.
Collaborating with others to execute responsibilities.

Key Area: Plans and prepares for meals through

Contributing to recipe designs
Assisting with menu selection
Maintaining an orderly kitchen and storing and preparing food efficiently

Key Area: Administrative

Reports any breakdowns and malfunctions to supervisor immediately
Attends regular team and site meetings
Completes other duties and prepares for special events when requested.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position has no direct reports but may be asked to assist in the supervision of program guests and volunteers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience

Experience preparing food in a commercial setting preferred.
1+ years of successful, recent work experience, demonstrating dependability and a strong work ethic.
Demonstrated desire to learn, grow and develop in previous roles and situations.
Demonstrated ability to learn software systems that support role.
Must be SERV Safe Certified or be able to acquire this certification within 6 months of being hired.

Physical Requirements

The Food Service Associate must be able to carry out the required job duties in a fast-paced Christ Centered environment that is grace-based, trauma informed, and strengths focused. It is a fast-paced environment that serves three meals per day, seven days per week, heavily utilizing donations to provide meals to guests.

To perform the essential job functions of this position, a candidate must be capable :

Walking short distances with the ability to ascend and descend stairs.
Physical dexterity sufficient to type and operate standard kitchen and office equipment.
Physical ability to perform normal culinary functions with endurance to remain standing for long periods of time.
Strength to lift donations, food items and equipment up to 30 pounds.

Other Requirements for Employment

Availability to work weekends, evenings and holiday hours.
