The Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of meals for residents in long- term care or assisted living facilities under the direct supervision of the Director of Fine Dining, Fine Dining Manager, or appointed designee in compliance with recipes and diets as assigned. The cook is required to take a lead role in food preparation services.

Key Responsibilities

Prepares – Creates meals in accordance with the Food Service department’s standard procedure.

Collect supplies and/or ingredients necessary for meals.
Prepare food items according to standard recipes.
Cook food items with appropriate equipment and at established temperatures.
Stores prepared items in an appropriate manner following all sanitation standards.
Perform special preparation tasks as assigned.

Collaborates – Demonstrates a commitment to achieving company goals by collaborating with team members to ensure streamlined service.
Serves – Serves meals according to menus and daily meal distribution plan. Coordinates menus, special functions, receptions, and catering services.
Fulfills – Satisfies guest orders in a timely manner while adhering to best practices.
Oversees – Ensures proper cleaning and maintenance of assigned areas in accordance with Wesley Woods operational standards.
Inventories - Ensure that the kitchen area is stocked and organized; alert manager of any inventory deficiencies and keep inventory records.
Sanitizes – Maintains a clean and sanitized work area to include equipment and utensils.
Performs – Additional responsibilities assigned as required.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience in institutional cooking, preferably in healthcare or institutional food service.
Ability to understand and prepare standard cooking techniques, interpret menus/ diet, and use appropriate food production equipment.
The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.
Ability to lift up to fifty pounds; to bend, stoop and twist. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
