Senior System Safety Engineer – Consulting Assignment

Are you an experienced System Safety Engineer with a passion for developing safe, reliable, and mission-critical systems? We at WeQuel are currently looking for a Senior System Safety Engineer for a consulting assignment in Stockholm. About the Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of rugged IT solutions by systematically identifying, analyzing, and mitigating system-related risks throughout the product lifecycle. This role contributes directly to the protection of people, assets, and the environment while ensuring adherence to relevant safety regulations and customer requirements.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Conduct system safety assessments and risk analyses for products and solutions.

• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, standards, and customer-specific requirements (e.g. FMV, Swedish Armed Forces).

• Produce and maintain technical documentation, including hazard logs, safety case reports, and recommendations.

• Participate in design reviews and provide guidance on safety-critical aspects.

• Provide safety-related support and training to internal teams and stakeholders.

• Act as a key point of contact for safety matters with customers and partners.

• Collaborate closely with project managers, system engineers, and design

We are looking for someone who:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g. Electrical, Systems, Safety) or equivalent work experience.

• Experience in systems engineering or safety engineering, ideally within the defence or high-tech sector.

• Proficient in identifying and analysing hazards in hardware and/or software-based systems.

• Ability to work independently with good attention to detail and structured documentation practices.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English.

• Comfortable with customer interactions and cross-functional collaboration.

• Skilled in using Microsoft Office tools for reporting and presentations.

• Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English

Meritorious:

• Experience working with system safety standards such as MIL-STD-882, IEC 61508, or ISO 26262

• Experience from projects involving the Swedish Armed Forces or FMV

• Knowledge of product development processes for rugged or mission-critical systems

• Additional training or certification in System Safety or Risk Management

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
