Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(Including the following, however, additional duties may apply as required)
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
- Sets up and operates power saws to cut, miter, and trim material according to specifications
- Selects and installs blade on machine, using hand tools
- Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions
- Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct material
- Mounts material in holding device, manually or using hoist
- Verifies dimensions of finished material using measuring devices
Requirements
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent work preferred
- At least 2 years of experience as a saw operator
- Good math and blueprint reading skills required. Knowledge of converting between metric and standard units of measure preferred.
- Experience with miter cuts preferred
- Ability to follow shop routings
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations required. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Physical Demands
Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane, forklift or stand-up may be required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
