Bevel Laser Operator - 2nd & 3rd shift

Description
Weldall Manufacturing is hiring an experienced Bevel Laser Operator with expertise in cutting large steel plate using CNC laser cutting equipment, including bevel cutting applications. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting laser equipment in a low-volume, high-mix job shop environment. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in precision work and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Set up and operate CNC bevel laser cutting equipment, including bevel cutting operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints to understand part geometry, cut requirements, and bevel details.
- Verify material type, thickness, and job setup prior to cutting.
- Load and unload steel plate using overhead cranes and/or forklifts.
- Monitor cutting operations to ensure part quality and adherence to specifications, including required tolerances.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain cut quality and efficiency.
- Identify and correct cut issues such as dross, taper, or inconsistent bevel angles.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to verify part accuracy.
- Use appropriate measuring tools to verify part conformance when required.
- Work with engineering & programming to troubleshoot & resolve cutting or program-related issues.
- Deburr parts as needed using grinders or other tools to meet quality standards.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance to ensure equipment remains in good working condition.
- Ensure proper part identification, handling, and staging for downstream operations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Follow established safety practices and properly use required safety equipment.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- 1–3 years of experience operating CNC bevel laser, preferably in a job shop.
- Experience with bevel cutting applications preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and part drawings.
- Experience setting up jobs, including material selection and machine adjustments.
- Understanding of cut quality standards, including edge condition and bevel accuracy.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and make adjustments to improve cut quality and efficiency.
- Experience handling large steel plate using overhead cranes and/or forklifts preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
- Basic computer skills for operating machine interfaces and production systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move large plate and parts (training provided if needed).
- Strong vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
