Repair and Maintenance Technician

Join our team as a Repair & Maintenance Technician, where you'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our field tools and equipment. This position involves inspection, testing, qualification, repair, and maintenance of electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, data acquisition systems, and downhole tools. Working under Company guidelines and technical procedures, you'll contribute to operational excellence while advancing your career in the oil and gas industry. Senior-level positions will lead and mentor R&M team members in executing these essential functions.
Roles and Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance: Maintain the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring all activities comply with the Company's Security, Compliance & HSE policies, Management System, and Rules to Live By. Place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and Environmental protection as core values in all operations.
Quality Assurance: Actively comply with and improve the Company's Quality policies and Management System. Maintain service quality as an immediate priority and continuously seek areas for improvement.
Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, retrofits, and upgrades on a wide range of equipment. Repair machines and structures using tools such as hammers, hoists, cranes, drills, wrenches, and precision measuring instruments. Assemble, install, and repair wiring, electrical/electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, and machinery.
Testing & Calibration: Conduct testing and calibration tasks of tools following documented policies and procedures aligned with your training and competence level. Inspect used parts to determine dimensional requirements using precision measuring instruments.
Troubleshooting: Perform basic to complex troubleshooting on electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment, including data acquisition systems and downhole tools. Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions following Company policies.
Documentation: Complete Work Orders, AIRTs, PFTs, Forms, Checklists, and Repair Requests accurately. Maintain all relevant databases and comply with the Work Order labour time tracking system. Identify opportunities for improvement in equipment, procedures, and documentation.
Leadership (Senior Roles): Lead and oversee R&M team activities, distribute work assignments, evaluate quality and efficiency of work, and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures. Conduct root cause analysis on failures and implement corrective actions. Order parts and supplies according to Company guidelines and estimate repair costs.
Communication: Report equipment failures and troubleshooting requirements to R&M Management. Maintain effective communications with all key stakeholders, both internal and external.
Continuous Improvement: Support and comply with LEAN initiatives and participate in the continuous efficiency improvement program of the facility. Participate in daily operations and safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
Development: Take responsibility for developing your career within the Company by completing all necessary function, compliance, and business standards training. Engage regularly with your line manager to discuss performance, objectives, and career opportunities.
Skills and Education
High School Diploma
0-2 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry
Basic computer skills and mathematics
Experience working with hazardous materials, radioactive elements, and explosives
Awareness of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation), and ATEX policies and principles
Ability to perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and monitoring of equipment
Critical thinking, active learning and listening, and complex problem-solving abilities
Strong reading and writing skills with sound judgment and decision-making capabilities
Time management and quality control analysis skills
Ability to diagnose issues and problems with tools/equipment (senior roles)
Information and task ordering abilities with problem identification and solution skills
Ability to react effectively and efficiently when operating tools and machinery
Spatial visualization skills to imagine how tools and products will look during assembly, repair, or modifications
Capability to meet the physical demands of the role
Travel Requirement: This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to 10%.
