Position Summary: 

Safety Coordinators implement and expand safety programs across the entire organization.  WellPower is a large, well-established, innovative, and vibrant community mental health center that provides outpatient mental health services to individuals recovering from serious and persistent mental illness. WellPower is rapidly expanding and adding services to their portfolio. The safety coordinator position will help the Risk Management team in the development and implementation of safety programs and procedures to support our current and new service offerings. This position will primarily focus on supporting our outpatient clinical and residential teams. 

Compensation & Benefits:

The posted range represents the full hiring range. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications. 

Job Duties & Functions: 

  • Develop safety programs & procedures including development and maintenance of site-specific safety guides, with expansion of this item into residential teams. 
  • Hold regular site-specific safety meetings with outpatient clinical locations and begin having these meetings with residential teams. 
  • Deliver training focused on safety and emergency response topics – including key tools such as Alert Media, panic buttons, overhead paging systems, emergency door locks, and site safety emergency checklists – while identifying and addressing deficiencies as needed. Expand these practices to the residential team where appropriate. 
  • Identify safety improvement opportunities, compliance concerns, and possible safety risks by conducting frequent site audits. 
  • Assist in identifying adverse safety trends and help develop plans to address them, collaborating with the appropriate Program Managers, Directors, and Executives. 
  • Assist their supervisor and other organizational leaders in addressing union representatives concerns regarding safety, when requested. 
  • Assist in managing, auditing, investigating, and responding to Confidential Incident Reports (CIRs). 
  • Facilitate and support safety drills/workshops including fire and severe weather drills and active threat workshops. 
  • Support Risk Management’s efforts to ensure compliance with organizational safety program expectations and applicable federal and state laws. 
  • Manage the security video surveillance system, including reviewing/archiving incident footage, trouble shooting camera errors, and supporting WellPower staff with use of the system. 
  • Serve as liaison between WellPower and local law enforcement, and emergency response departments, as appropriate. 
  • Serve as an active member of the WellPower’s Disaster Response Team. 
  • Assist in responding to contacts made to the Risk Management phone line and email. 
  • Complete administrative duties and special projects, such as participation in presentations, research, program development, and other related projects as requested by their supervisor. 
  • Assist in maintaining an environment of well-being using an equity lens and trauma informed principle. 
  • Other duties, as assigned. 

Requirements & Qualifications: 

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a safety related field.  

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum 1 year of health, safety and/or environmental related experience. 
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving safety, security, and/or personnel issues. 
  • Experience with OSHA regulations. 
  • Frequent local travel between sites in the city of Denver is required. 
  • Experience working in behavioral health field is a plus.  

Work Location:   4141 E Dickenson pl is the primary site with the expectation to physically visit all WellPower locations at some frequency.

Shift/Hours:  Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (May require occasional evening or weekend hours), Hybrid with expectation to work at a WellPower site 3x per week 

Physical Requirements: This largely sedentary role requires frequent computer use, effective communication, manual dexterity for typing, and visual acuity for reading and analyzing on-screen data.
