Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Occasional Overtime & Saturdays

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines
  • Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes along with minor and major repairs from A/C, hydraulics, electrical, welding, engine replacement, transmissions, etc.
  • Interprets diagnostic test results accurately
  • Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans in our system
  • Collaborates with other diesel mechanics
  • Completes test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly
  • Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely
  • Communicate with drivers for issues in morning and afternoon
  • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards
  • Follows all Waste Connections repair shop regulations and standards

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Driver’s License with a Clean Driving Record (Required)
  • Experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair
  • Provide personal tools.
  • Class B CDL OR the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment if required.
  • Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information in English.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
  • Back, leg, arm and shoulder strength required to safely climb in, on and around vehicles to inspect and repair.
  • Ability to work in awkward, tight, or restricted spaces for extended periods of time; Requires the ability to sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and be able to get up and down from a supine position.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts which require following basic safety precautions.
  • The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
