Baker Engineering, LLC’s (Baker) core business centers around the design and development of high-tech, high-performance technologies for a variety of applications, from custom military and commercial engines, to engine components, to the production of parts and mechanical assemblies for other industries. Baker is a division of Waséyabek Development Company, LLC that is wholly owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, a Federally recognized Indian Tribe.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Design Engineer is responsible for the development of parts, assemblies and detailed drawings using CAD design software as well as supporting the design work through the manufacturing, building, and testing phases. The ideal candidate has a passion for power and propulsion and a love for taking on challenging projects. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

    Perform CAD Design to customer specifications utilizing PTC Creo software (multiple modules)

    Conduct Finite Element Analysis

    Development of parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings

    Conduct engineering analysis of components and dynamic systems

    Support part and engine testing

    Write proposals and reports

    Other duties as requested by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

    Design/CAD software experience

    Mechanically inclined

    Knowledge of hand tools

    Critical thinking skills

    Strong attention to detail

    Proficient in Microsoft office suites including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe

    Must be able to support the Baker culture with a focus on teamwork and a commitment to service

    Time management and organizational skills

    User level knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standard for geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing

    Ability to communicate and collaborate with team members

    Good oral and written communications skills

    Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion

    Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by BE.

    US Citizen/ ITAR compliant

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Engine test laboratory experience (instrumentation, set-up, and operation) preferred

    Proficient using PTC Creo software as evidenced by at least 5,000 hours of professional experience

    Experience with design for manufacturing

    Sit a desk workstation for up to 8 hours per day
