We are looking for an Inventory Expert to join our team in Quito, Ecuador. 

 

In this role, you will be responsible for driving effective inventory management activities across the Americas region, with a primary focus on monitoring inventory performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and coordinating corrective actions with stakeholders across the Wärtsilä network.

 

You will play a key role in maintaining healthy inventory levels, supporting operational efficiency, and ensuring inventory-related processes are aligned with Wärtsilä's standards and business objectives. Working closely with warehouses, workshops, planners, business controllers, sales teams, and technical support functions, you will provide expert guidance and proactive support to optimize inventory performance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels and trends within assigned areas of responsibility, primarily across the Americas region.
  • Identify and propose inventory management actions, including buy-backs, scrapping initiatives, and obsolescence management.
  • Track and follow up slow-moving and non-moving inventory and support actions to improve inventory turnover.
  • Collaborate with local warehouse and workshop management teams, planners, business controllers, technical support, and sales to drive corrective actions.
  • Support stakeholders with inventory-related expertise and recommendations.
  • Create, maintain, and develop inventory databases and systems to ensure accurate inventory management.
  • Analyze root causes of inventory discrepancies and recommend sustainable solutions.
  • Support internal control activities related to warehousing and inventory management within the assigned region.
  • Plan and manage stock volumes when applicable.
  • Communicate proactively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the Warehousing & Distribution team with additional inventory and logistics-related activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with local Workplace Health, Safety, and Environmental (EHS) regulations and Wärtsilä guidelines.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

 

Education

  • BSc in Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Logistics, Warehousing, Inventory Management, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience working with inventory optimization, stock control, and inventory analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP.

 

Skills & Other Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written in English and Spanish.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Negotiation and change management capabilities.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Basic technical understanding of Wärtsilä's product portfolio.
  • Basic programming knowledge for data analysis and process automation.
  • Understanding of AI concepts and their practical application within business and supply chain operations.
