At WakeMed, our team is dedicated to providing outstanding patient care through the Wake Way to Excellence. We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist who thrives within a busy outpatient Urology practice where collaboration, efficiency, and exceptional service are key to success. 

What You'll Do

As a Phlebotomist in our Urology practice, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care by ensuring accurate specimen collection, processing, and handling. You'll work closely with providers, nurses, and support staff to deliver a seamless patient experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory specimens from patients across various age groups while providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
• Verify patient identity, specimen labeling, and laboratory orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
• Process, prepare, and transport specimens according to laboratory requirements and turnaround expectations.
• Maintain specimen integrity and ensure all collection documentation is accurate and complete.
• Support clinic workflow by effectively prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
• Utilize electronic medical records, laboratory systems, and other technology to document and process patient and specimen information.
• Perform routine quality control activities and maintain equipment according to established procedures.
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, and staff to support efficient clinic operations and exceptional patient outcomes.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while adhering to all infection prevention and safety standards.
• Participate in ongoing education and competency development to stay current with best practices.

What We're Looking For

• Previous phlebotomy experience in a physician practice, outpatient clinic, urology practice, or similar healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills with a commitment to patient safety and comfort.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately follow established procedures and workflows.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy clinical environment.
• Experience using electronic medical records and laboratory information systems.
• Effective communication and customer service skills with a patient-first approach.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and able to take initiative while supporting team goals.
