Join Vulcan Building Systems as a Quantity Surveyor / Sales Estimator, managing quotes, reading construction and building consent drawings, and using estimate software in a dynamic, growing team. It's a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same — you'll be the link between customers, our sales team, and operations, helping deliver accurate, timely solutions.
What you'll be doing
- Manage customer, colleague, and supplier interactions by phone, email, and face-to-face
- Accurately estimate quantities from construction and building consent drawings
- Provide timely, accurate quotes to meet customer specifications
- Follow up on active quotes and help build a strong sales pipeline
- Maintain high levels of customer service with a focus on sales
- Coordinate with operations to schedule and dispatch orders efficiently (achieve full DIFOT)
- Support the wider team and contribute to company growth
This role blends desk-based estimating with regular customer contact — you'll move between quoting software, drawings, and the phone throughout the day.
Requirements
- Ability to read construction and building consent drawings
- Experience using building estimate software
- Experience in customer service and sales
- Knowledge of, or experience in, the steel or construction industry (preferred)
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills and strong numerical ability
- A valid work visa or the right to work in New Zealand
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug screen
